The stage was set for some drama as all gathered to attend the NMMC’s State Level Mono Act & Ganesh Utsav prize distribution. However, what one did not expect were the addresses made by the leaders who did not hesitate in admitting that they are in comparison to reel life actors, politicians are real life “kalakaars”. It started with Airoli MLA Sandeep Naik’s speech who speaking in context to the proposed Airoli auditorium, explained to guests and audience that just like there is drama on stage in theatre, the proposal has witnessed drama outside it.
Taking a cue from the Airoli MLA, Belapur MLA Manda Mhatre said that when NMMC started in 1995, she and J D Sutar were the first kalakaars and got the audience applause with her witty remarks.
She went on to adds that speaking of “kalakaars”, politicians are the real actors.
Mayor J D Sutar, continued the actor reference to politicians and said that when NMMC was instated, they were the first kalakaars who have witnessed the municipal corporation grow from Rs. 17 Crores to Rs. 3500 Crores.
While the political leaders made candid confessions of being kalakaars, it stands true of most politicians of today who are less leader, and more of actors. The public leaders of the Independence era were real leaders who practiced what they preached but modern day leaders boast big talks but seldom practice what they preach. Now it’s most challenging for the public to chose a real leader who works in public interests. Bureau report – NMTV News.
