One of the most popular film festivals organized within colleges in the country is SIES College of Arts, Science and Commerce’s Nerul’s FRAMES Festival. The fest that was first held in 2003, was inaugurated this year at the hands of actress Poonam Dhillon. The three day fest has earned the tag of being India’s largest undergraduate Film Festival. The theme for the festival this year is “Naqaab.”
The fest and its theme comes from its main aim to help students experiencing the art, the thought process, the vision and even the efforts that goes behind film making. Post the inauguration at the hands of Poonam Dhillon and members of faculty, a dance was performed by the students of the BMM department on her upcoming movie songs. All three days of the fest, screening has been organized. On the inaugural day, International Short Films were screened in the auditorium. Manjiri Phadnis – of Janu Tu Ya Janu Na fame, Zoya Hussain of Mukkabaaz fame and Pawan Chopra of Airlift fame were part of the judging panel.
This year the college received entries form 150 countries of which 8 were shortlisted. Post the screening, the judges were impressed with the films made. A new Category “Theatre” has also been introduced this year while the first day ended with screening of National Short Films.
