President Barack Obama vowed that he would degrade and destroy the Islamist State terrorists in Iraq and Syria. The pledge had brought concern whether American troops were planning to make a return in the Middle East. President Obama’s pledge had been highly supported by US Army Gen Martin Dempsey who is the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and also President’s top military advisor. According to Dempsey ‘Mission Creep’ would be the best way to take forward Obama’s pledge.
Mission Creep is a term that had been used by the American military since 1990, which refers to unplanned long term military commitment, during the course of a military campaign. But so far Obama has not mention anything of sending troops to Middle East, just that military advisors and special forces may be send to train and guide Iraqi and Kurdish forces that will help them to overpower the ISISI.
