Engineering follies and miscalculated technical aspects might lead to a disastrous accident at the site on Parsik Hills where a reservoir is being constructed as a part of the Kalamboli Digha Pipeline work by Pratibha Industries. The NMMC’s claims that a reservoir on this site at the top of Parsik Hills will help supply water without consuming power. The reservoir is being built by contractor Pratibha Industries and is a part of water supply project through the Kalamboli Digha Pipeline network. The reservoir construction was to complete on 16th March 2007 but it is September and the work is far from getting ground. And the reason seems to be engineering follies and miscalculated technical aspects by the NMMC Engineering Dept. and the contractor. While the reservoir will needed power defeating the very purpose of stationing, he also pointed out that the water tank would not be completely stable as its being built on soft soil and on a slope of a hill. The direction of the waterfall is towards the side of the tank, which can even lead to the tank collapsing down on the IT Colony below. He says that the wise thing to do now is to build the reservoir on the other side of the hill as it has plain and less tilted.
