PRE – POLL URBAN OPERA BEGINS THIS WEEK

The Congress-NCP government wants to complete a 60-day marathon before the election code of conduct comes into force. The Democratic Front (DF) government will go all out to woo voters in the state’s urban areas in a pre-poll razzmatazz to advertise its achievements, launch new infrastructure projects, inaugurate the completed ones. If you think the inauguration spree that Chief minister Ashok Cahavan went on in Navi Mumbai was the end of it, think again. Because it’s not just the CM but other Congress party leaders are also going all out to woo voters. The 60-day pre-poll opera will see political heavyweights like Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, former chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh frequenting the urban parts of the state with inaugurations, announcements and promises. The election code of conduct is likely to be become operational by August 15 or 20. The govt plans to exploit the JNNURM projects in the state. Besides the Bandra Worli Sealink, which is opening this week, it has Metro I and Metro II works to show. Sana Warsia – NMTV News.
