President Barack Obama approves of the new Women Act which includes equal rights and protection for the gays and lesbians in the country

Violence against Women Act was first passed in 1994, which authorizes protection to women against abuse, rape and violence. This act also includes various educational programs across the country. With a budget of $660 million spent every year, the Republicans now want new provisions in the Act that includes equal rights and protections to gays and lesbians in the country. Although its ironical that before some time more Republicans were opposing the fact rather than supporting of including gay rights along with Woman Act, but now they have signed off a reauthorization of act and passed over to the President Barack Obama to include it as a law.

Obama had already agreed to pass the protection of gay community as a law before the Republicans realisation came into action. ‘Renewing this bill is an important step to make sure no one lives in fear in America’, as stated by Obama. Kiran Kidwai – International Desk, NMTV
