While addressing reporters before leaving for a campaign event, President Barack Obama openly criticized the steps that had been announced and carried out by the governors against the American health workers who are returning from Liberia after treating Ebola patients. Obama said that quarantining these health workers is not any solution, in fact this behavior would definitely deteriorate and dampen the spirits of those workers who have daringly volunteered to serve the patients of Ebola.
DART team the International Development’s “Disaster Assistance Response Team” is an American agency whose health workers have been serving in Liberia against Ebola virus since August. Obama also praised the agency and their effort as according to him, the DART’s contribution and hard work has helped overall in bringing down the virus effect in Liberia.
‘We don’t just react based on our fears, we react based on facts and judgment and making smart decisions. So we don’t want to discourage our health care workers from going to the front lines and dealing with this in an effective way. The point is that the disease can be contained. It will be defeated’ as stated by President Barack Obama to the reporters. Kiran Kidwai – International Desk, NMTV
