President Pranab Mukherjee is slated to announce the winners of the government’s Digi-Dhan mela which was launched on December 25, 2016, to promote and reward the use of digital payments.
Through the The Digi-Dhan mela, the government would reward customers and merchants who paid and accepted payments through digital mediums through daily, weekly, and monthly rewards. Sunday’s draw will commemorate 100 days of the schemes.
In a post-demonetization move, the government announced the Digidhan Vyapar Yojna to incentivise and reward merchants and the Lucky Grahak Yojna for customers who pay by the digital medium.
Under Digi-Dhan, the government had said it would pick winners through a lucky draw who would stand a chance to win rewards up to Rs 1 crore.
Under the Lucky Grahak Yojna, the government had promised that it would pick 15,000 lucky consumers to win daily prizes worth Rs 1000 in the first 100 days of the scheme. The customers were required to spend between Rs 50 and Rs 3000 through Unified Payments Interface, USSD, RuPay, or Aadhaar-enabled payments.
Customers and merchants can check if they have won through the government’s mygov.in website.
Customers can check by entering their mobile number. The users will receive a one-time password which can be entered to check the status. In the third stage, it may ask you to enter the details of the transaction made through RuPay, AEPS, UPI, and USSD, including the transaction ID and transaction date.
According to the mygov website, so far 15,26,748 customers have been rewarded and 84,000 merchants have been picked as lucky winners through the yojanas.
Out of this, 13,35,505 are RuPay customers, 1,40,785 are customers who used AEPS, 48,888 are UPI customers and 1,570 are USSD customers. 84,000 merchants providing point-of-sale machines to accept payments have been rewarded.
On April 9, Mukherjee will pick three mega prizes for customers, worth Rs 1 crore, Rs 50 lakh and Rs 25 lakh, and three for merchants, worth Rs 50 lakh, Rs 25 lakh and Rs 12 lakh, Niti Aayog said.
The winners would be then be felicitated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 14, 2017, in Nagpur on Ambedkar Jayanti.
