The day the Prime Minister visited Mumbai, rickshaw driver had to go through a nightmare of inconveniences. Rajeev Mishra tells you why. This long queue of rickshaws at the toll naka might have had to live a day without making money. Reason being that they were prohibited to fill gas on grounds of the Prime Minister’s visit to Mumbai. The CNG station was shut down for security reasons. When the rickshaws wanted to try other CNG stations, not only were they stopped by the police, but some had to even face the sticks of the policemen. While rickshaws say that the least that could have been done was given them a day’s notice. The issue surfaces the need of a CNG station for Navi Mumbai that has around 4000 auto rickshaws running on CNG. Not the first time, when a VIP visit has caused troubled to a rather weak segment.
