Congress leader Rahul Gandhi arrived in Ayodhya. This is the first visit by a Gandhi family member since 1992 Babri Masjid demolition. He visited Hanuman Garhi temple in Ayodhya as part of his ongoing ‘Kisan Yatra’.
He kick-started his 2500 km-long Kisan Yatra in a bid to capture power in the politically important state of UP. The ‘Deoria to Dilli yatra’ is part of the Congress campaign to end its 27-year exile from power in Uttar Pradesh.
“He offered prayers at Hanuman Garhi temple in Ayodhya before embarking on the fourth day of his mahayatra in Uttar Pradesh,” party spokesperson said.
Opposition leaders claimed that Rahul’s visit to Ayodhya is nothing but a political stunt based on election strategist Prashant Kishor’s Brahmin-centric campaign in Uttar Pradesh.
Congress VP Rahul Gandhi has rescheduled his Allahabad visit. He will now hold ‘Khat Sabha’ and roadshow on 14 September. Gandhi will not hold ‘Khat Sabha’ in Jaunpur. He will only hold roadshow and meet locals as part of his ongoing ‘Kisan yatra’.
