Kharghar known for its beauty and peace with well developed buildings lacks the most important part of an infrastructure and needed at times of all calamities – a fire station. Residents here are worried and live in fear as surprisingly the local administration has failed to provide them with this basic service. It comes as a shock but it’s true. Well developed Kharghar which has classical tall buildings, towers and malls lacks a fire station. More than 1.5 lakh people are residing in this node but shockingly there isn’t a singly fire station here. While the residents are living in fear, apparently CIDCO is still contemplating of building one at the moment. Majority of the buildings at Kharghar are multi-storied and many more educational centers, shopping malls and multiplexes are coming up here. Yet unfortunately, there is still no plan underway to even built a fire station. The nearest fire stations are the ones in Belapur and Kalamboli and while it takes around 20 minutes to reach Kharghar, it would be too late especially if a major fire breaks out. It is necessary that the authorities wake up to the concerns of the residents before major disaster occurs in this beautiful node.
