Airoli constituency MLA Sandeep Naik arrived at Koperkhairane to visit the homes constructed by CIDCO and are reeling in dilapidated conditions. The visit came in wake of a slab falling incident in one of the apartments that in injured a senior citizens and created panic among residents.
CIDCO built homes in Navi Mumbai have become every residents’ nightmare. With incidents of slab falling becoming more frequent and a delay on part of the state to formulate a FSI policy for reconstruction, the horror for CIDCO apartment owners continue. This time report of slab falling came from Koperkhairane where MLA Sandeep Naik arrived for inspection of the conditions of the buildings. The incident took place in Shree Sai Society in Sector 10, KK where a woman aged 65 years was hurt. The incident has created a panic among residents who voiced their grievances and fears to MLA Sandeep Naik. The MLA took a close look at the fallen slab and inspected the area during the visit.
Speaking to the media, MLA Sandeep Naik criticized at the poor quality of work done by CIDCO in building affordable homes for the common man in Navi Mumbai. He added that the quality of material as seen in the fallen slab; shows that it is of poor quality and emphasized on the need of a structural audit.
The MLA informed that Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik had taken up the issue with the Chief Minister’s office after a similar incident occurred in Nerul and the Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has assured for bringing about a GR for 2.5 FSI in Navi Mumbai.
