Maharashtra Revenue Minister Narayan Rane criticised the ongoing political debate on Vada Pav and expressed strong opposition to the Shiv Sena-led vada pav scheme. Speaking during an event, Revenue Minister Narayan Rane criticized Shiv Sena’s concept of selling Vada Pav. Calling it an old concept, the minister stated that they did not want their Marathi youth to sell only Vada Pav. Instead the marathi youth should be motivated to move forward and own hotels instead of just vada pav stalls. It may be recalled that Shiv Sena had announced a scheme “Shiv vada pav’ that will facilitate Marathi youths to sell the extremely popular snack in the metropolis. However, the scheme got into controversy due a part of its name, Shiv, which is a derivative of Maratha warrior king Shivaji Maharaj. Terming Sena’s scheme as “myopic”, he said that Shiv Sena does not have any other developmental issues to speak about during the Thane Lok Sabha by-elections and that is why they have taken up the vada pav issue. Exhorting Marathi youth to broaden their vision, Rane said they should think about entrepreneurship on a larger scale.
