Under the state transport department’s new school bus safety policy, a school level meeting was held by the Navi Mumbai Dy. Regional Transport Office where present were principals of city schools. We caught up with the Deputy RTO Sanjay Raut who spoke to us about this meeting.

After the state transport department urged schools to form a school level committee to look into the school bus safety policy, a meeting was held by the Navi Mumbai Regional Transport Office along with the principals of the several schools in Navi Mumbai to discuss on the formation of this committee and to resolve any of their queries. Speaking to NMTV News about this meeting, the Deputy RTO Sanjay Raut said that schools have to form a transport committee.

Sanjay Raut said that there were many concerns of the principals who thought that the responsibility of the school committee would be solely of the principal, who will head this committee. However, he cleared that the committee would be responsible as a whole. The responsibility of making this committee is that of the principal, which will include an officer from the education dept, traffic police, RTO official along with a representation of the parent-teacher association.
