The prominent annual science festival, KHOJ 2009 organized by DAV center for Creative education has once again arrived bringing new opportunities for students all over the country to showcase their talent in science and technology. The school has been successfully organizing the science festival for past 9 years. In a press conference organized at DAV Public school, New Panvel, Regional director of DAV group of schools and Director of DAVCCE Dr KB Kushal, informed that this year around 400 students have been invited from states like Bihar, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, South India and Maharahstra. Students from schools as well as colleges along with teachers and parents have been invited for the festival. This year the participants are invited to develop and present their projects on Astronomy and space research, which includes Solar system, Sunspots, Space Shuttle, International Space station and star systems. The objective behind conducting the science festival is to provide an alternative learning format to the conventional classroom mode of learning. He also stated that the festival is a collaborative initiative, where not only students but also teachers and parents are invited to participate where every one can interact with each other and share their views on a subject. According to him, the science festival is a unique opportunity for teachers and students to experience, explore and express their scientific orientations. The interactive festival shall also include educational events like elocution competition, science talk shows, essay writing, poem writing and several other on the spot creative activities. 55 schools will be participating in the festival.
