Setback To Congress As Namdeo Bhagat Joins Shiv Sena

[youtube url=”″ width=”560″ height=”315″] Navi Mumbai : After much speculations, former Congress Navi Mumbai President Namdeo Bhagat has joined Shiv Sena. In an event held in Mumbai on the birth anniversary of late Sena Supremo Balasaheb Thackeray, Namdeo Bhagat joined Shiv Sena in the presence of Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray. Also present were Thane MP Rajan Vichare and Thane Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde.

Differences between Namdeo Bhagat and Congress party leaders started when Dashrath Bhagat was chosen as Congress Navi Mumbai President. Even though Namdeo Bhagat was given Congress party candidature in Vidhan Sabha elections 2014, he received little support from Congress as no senior Minister campaigned for Bhagat in Belapur constituency. With the absence of Namdeo Bhagat’s mentor late Vilasrao Deshmukh in Congress party, Namdeo Bhagat had long been moving away from the Congress. Sources reveal Shiv Sena Leader Vijay Nahata played a crucial role in convincing Namdeo Bhagat to join Shiv Sena. Now it remains to be seen how Namdeo Bhagat’s entry will better the prospects of Shiv Sena in NMMC Elections 2015.
