Nationalist Congress Party Chief Sharad Pawar has again raised doubts over Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) machines. While speaking to a news channel Sharad Pawar said that the experts are saying that EVMs can be hacked.

Going by the claims made by BJP leaders, it raises doubts that they have done some planning regarding this. If the BJP wins in the Baramati Lok Sabha seat, people will lose confidence in elections.

The Election Commission should make necessary amendments in the election process to ensure that people repose their faith in it. Once they lose confidence in the elections, they can go to any extent, he added. Sharad Pawar’s statements had created ripples in political circles raising doubts about his confidence regarding the victory of his daughter and NCP nominee Supriya Sule from Baramati. The ruling party leaders are making tall claims of winning all seats in Maharashtra. They had expressed confidence that Supriya Sule will bite the dust this time against BJP candidate Kanchan Kul from Baramati.

Sharad Pawar added that when persons like State Revenue Minister Chandrakant Patil, who never contested the Assembly or Parliamentary polls, claim with such confidence that the BJP will win seats, like Baramati and Madha Lok Sabha seats, it raises doubts in the minds of many people as to whether EVMs have been manipulated. He however added that while he has heard discussions to this effect, he has no authentic information.

When people of the calibre and stature of Sharad Pawar, who has over 50 years of glorious political career, question the credibility of the electoral process, it indeed is unfortunate. Zeba Warsia – NMTV News.
