The political contours of Navi Mumbai have become saffron. Top most leaders of the city have become saffron leaders of either the BJP or Shiv Sena
JITENDRA AWHAD TAKES CHARGE OF EXECUTING SHARAD PAWAR’S PLAN FOR NAVI MUMBAI
CM Devendra Fadnavis has played his political cards with such intelligence that the pillars of the NCP fortress in Navi Mumbai are on the verge of collapse. The only factor that can possibly stop NCP from losing its last bastion is Sharad Pawar, who seems to have taken on the Devendra Fadnavis challenge in Navi Mumbai. And Pawar’s blue eyed boy Jitendra Awhad has been sent to take charge of NCP in Navi Mumbai. The first glimpse of this of this was seen in a NCP Melava held in Navi Mumbai.
NCP FIRST MEET WITHOUT GANESH NAIK TURNED OUT TO BE A SURPRISE
When the NCP in Navi Mumbai; mentored by Sharad Pawar and led by its new President Ashok Gawde called for a party workers, many were sure that it will garner very poor response. After all who would dare to go against the Ganesh Naik in Navi Mumbai; more so his own corporators and party workers? But the surprise element of the meet was that hundreds did rebel from Ganesh Naik to attend the NCP meet held at Nerul. The count of both leaders and party workers turned out to be a surprise. NCP leader who were present, launched scathing verbal attack questioning Ganesh Naik’s morals and political ethics. NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad said that the party side-lined loyal party leader like MLA Manda Mhatre for Ganesh Naik. MLA Shashikant Shinde and NCP Navi Mumbai District President Ashok Gawde too lashed out at Ganesh Naik for leaving NCP.
NCP LEADERS REMIND ALL THE “NAVI MUMBAI & SHARAD PAWAR” CONNECTION
Navi Mumbai and Sharad Pawar’s connection dates back to the very birth of Navi Mumbai. It was under Sharad Pawar as Chief Minister of Maharashtra that Navi Mumbai, as a new ultra-modern alternative city to Mumbai was shaped by CIDCO. Since then all landmark decisions of Navi Mumbai were taken by Sharad Pawar. Be it 12.5% scheme for PAPs, affordable housing schemes by CIDCO or even APMC in Navi Mumbai. Sharad Pawar continues to be respected by PAPs across villages in Navi Mumbai and is revered by the Mathadi community here. In their speeches, NCP leaders recalled this Sharad Pawar connection of Navi Mumbai to boost the morale of party workers and make citizens informed of this aspect.
WHAT IS HOLDING BACK GANESH NAIK TO MAKE HIS STAND CLEAR?
It’s being speculated that Ganesh Naik is aiming to enter the BJP with much fanfare in the third week of August. However, there is no confirmation from Ganesh Naik himself. In fact he surprised many by almost vanishing from the scene in the last few weeks. When NCP corporators met at Mayor’s Bungalow and decided that they will “force” Ganesh Naik to enter the BJP, Ganesh Naik wasn’t present. In contrast to his normal bold avatar, Ganesh Naik shied away from meeting corporators and party workers the next day at Naiks’ “Crystal House” as well. And since then he has remained silent and unavailable to the both his party men and media on talks of him joining BJP, which is very unlike of the otherwise fiery personality of Ganesh Naik. The media did get to question him this week when he made his first public appearance since BJP entry speculations have begun, but his only response was “I am thinking.”
NCP NAVI MUMBAI’S BJP PARIVARTAN WOULD MAKE NAVI MUMBAI A FACE OFF BETWEEN PM MODI AND SHARAD PAWAR
NCP party workers and leaders’ who swore against Prime Minister Narendra Modi until Lok Sabha elections, have taken a U-turn. Evidently it happened because of fear of defeat in assembly polls. It may be recalled that Shiv Sena MP Rajan Vichare garnered nearly 40, 000 votes lead in both Airoli and Belapur constituency during Lok Sabha polls despite Ganesh Naik campaigning intensely for NCP candidate Anand Paranjpe. The results made it clear that the NCP would be defeated against Shiv Sena BJP alliance in assembly polls. And the fear was confirmed by the recently-fired NCP Navi Mumbai District President Anant Sutar who in a conversation with NMTV admitted that they have decided to enter BJP to ensure Ganesh Naik wins assembly polls later this year. His choice of words made it clear that Ganesh Naik needs to takes refuge in PM Modi’s BJP to win this time around.
And if things go as per speculations, Ganesh Naik will soon enter the BJP. And the day Ganesh Naik enters BJP, Navi Mumbai will become a direct battle ground between the ideologies, power, people’s connect and work of two leaders : Prime Minister Narendra Modi and NCP President Sharad Pawar.
