SHOP OWNER ALLEGES CORPORATOR’S SELF INTEREST FOR DEMOLITION OF HIS SHOP AT SEAWOODS

_seawoods-shop--2In one of its demolition drives, NMMC razed down an illegal extension constructed by a sweet shop named ‘Gothi’s Cornor’ at Seawoods. However, what did not go unnoticed was that the corporation did not take action against the other shops which were also consuming the marginal space. Few days back a sweet shop, ‘Gothi’s Cornor’ located sector 46 of Seawoods had caught fire due to a shock circuit. During the repair of the shop that was damaged due to the fire, the shop owner had constructed an extra stair in the given marginal space illegally. Acting upon this, the NMMC sent a notice of demolition to the shop owner for removing the illegal extension. Seeing no response, the NMMC acted upon their notice and demolished the illegal construction by the shop owner. However, the shop owner has alleged that while action was taken on his shop, the other shops which also had constructed illegally were left by the corporation. The shop owner further alleged that when he spoke about the same to the ward officer, he was informed that due to pressure from the local corporator, action was taken on his shop. The local corporator of the area is NCP Kavita Jadhav who is the wife of former corporator Bharat Jadhav. The shop owner is demanding fair treatment.
