Shortage of pulses and cereals estimated to hit the state next year


According to estimates, the shortage of pulses seems to have hit the state as the drought-hit kharif season is going to increase.

While there is a steep shortage of production of kharif pulses, there is also reduction in the production of kharif cereals for 2015-16 compared to a normal year. The overall production decline is seen at 34%. Other pulses are also going to steep down with toor dal production estimated to fall by by 42% and moong dal by a steep 71%.
