SPECIAL “DRINKING ZONES” FOR DRUNKARDS SAYS – GUARDIAN MINISTER GANESH NAIK

Ganesh-naik-2Replying to a calling-attention motion passed at the State Assembly by the Opposition, Excise and Environment Minister Ganesh Naik suggested that the shifting of liqour shops in villages to the outskirts. Making a peculiar suggestion, Excise and Environment Minister Ganesh Naik stated that liquor shops be shifted to the outskirts of villages where special “drinking zones” will be made only for drunkards. The minister was replying to a calling-attention motion passed by the Opposition legislators on the nuisance created by liquor shops in villages leading to complaints from women. He suggested that the shops would be shifted away from residential localities, schools and main markets so that tipplers cause nuisance only in the drinking zones. However, spokesperson Babasaheb Kupekar rapped Ganesh Naik for wandering away from the question raised by legislators and demanded an assurance. The Minister then stated that the villages would be shifted to the outskirts in six months. The operation timing of the liquor shops was also discussed where Kupekar directed Ganesh Naik to reduce the timings by an hour. Bureau report NMTV
