STANDING COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN ORDERS ENQUIRY INTO THE ALLEGED ILLEGAL FLOORS OF BSEL BUILDING

general-bodyStanding Committee Chairman Vijay Chougule ordered the issue of show cause notice to CIDCO, if violation of FSI under user norms were detected in the construction of the BSEL building adjoining the Vashi railway Station complex. He also ordered the issue of Notice shop in an Airoli shopping complex that had illegally enclosed a gutter and was trying to grab the association office too. The orders were issues in response to motion of objection raised by Ramakant Mhatre about the large scale grab of land from CIDCO under the grab of IT use and the connivance of NMMC town planning office in issuing commencement and occupancy certificates, without verifying the use and the FSI applicable for the same. He further alleged that an influential leader had been allotted a shop in the BSEL building, which was allegedly instrumental in getting the building, which was allegedly instrumental in getting the building approved by the concerned authorities. In a motion of objection at the standing committee meeting Vijaya Thakur revealed apathy of the NMMC health department in ensuring ambulance service at the NMMC hospital in Vashi. She alleged that a patient in her ward urgently needing an ambulance failed to procure one and hence contacted her-being a corporator. Vijaya Thakur made frantic calls to five numbers of the hospital at her disposal and drew a blank. The hospital operator failed to even respond to the calls. The NMMC booklet listing ambulance service in the city had no numbers of the service in Vashi she alleged. Inspite of this grave situation being bought to the notice of the Standing Committee, the Officiating Municipal Commissioner Jagganath Sinnarkar explained that since the hospital had only one operator, an advertisement for 3 operators has been made, which would rectify the situation. The standing committee Chairman Vijay Chougule, known for his loud reprimands, strangely chose to accept Sinnarkar,s reply without even enquiring about the number and state of ambulance in the hospital and alternate arrangements to source the ambulance services in the city.
