STANDING COMMITTEE MEMBERS CONDEMN MUMBAI BLAST AND BHIWANDI RIOTS – PAY TRIBUTE TO LATE NCP LEADER VASANT CHAUHAN

standing-committee-1The Standing Committee meet started of with the discussions of the horrifying Mumbai blast, the Bhiwandi riots that killed two policemen and the desecration of the statue of late Meenatai Thackeray. Along with this, tribute was also paid to death of the Nationalist Congress Party leader Vasant Chauhan. Congress corporator Ramakant Mahatre put forth the proposals for the same, which was seconded by the Nationalist party Corporator Dr. Jayaji Nath. Several corporators and members also stated their feelings over the unfortunate incidents that took place in Mumbai. For the first time since Vijay Chougele has taken over the Standing Committee Chairman, Municipal Commissioner Madhukar Kokate officiated the Standing Committee meet. The members of the Standing Committee meeting condemned the Mumbai bomb blasts, the Bhiwandi riots that killed two policemen and the desecration of the statue of Meenatai Thakaray. The members of the meeting also paid tribute to the death of the Nationalist Congress Party member Vasant Chauhan. Speaking about the Mumbai bomb blasts that shook and created fear amongst the people, Standing Committee Chairman Vijay Chougele vehemently stated that the persons responsible for such an act should be face severe punishment and that no mercy should be shown to them. He also appealed standing committee members to conduct blood donation camps for the victims and injured. He assured that doctors, nurses, ambulances will be made available and will be sent to Mumbai to help the hospitals there. Before adjourning the meeting, Vijay Chougele paid tribute to the death of Vasant Chauhan and condoled the tragic death of the 7/11 victims.
