Last week we got phenomenal response to the NMTV report on the highlights of the first week of the State Budget Session. Today we have the important highlights of the second week of the budget session. We begin with a report on the CID probe that the state has ordered in the Suzlon windmill land sale to 187 persons including Aishwarya Rai, Twinkle Khanna and Amar Singh. This week the opposition got another chance for attacking the state in the form of Suzlon windmill land sale. State Opposition Leader Ramdas Kadam claimed in the legislative assembly that land belonging to tribals, farmers and scheduled caste people had been acquired for the windmills for a few thousand rupees later resold for crores of rupees. State Revenue Minister Narayan Rane denied that there was any truth in the opposition’s allegations. The opposition however, continued to raise the issue in the assembly and council. BJP Member Nitin Gadkari claimed that Suzlon, a company involved setting up windmills, had purchased land from farmers and tribals and sold it to its investors, including Aishwarya Rai, Twinkle Khanna and Amar Singh. Nitin Gadkari said that the opposition has demanded that the original landowners get at least Rs 2 lakh per month. The state has announced that a committee will be set up to probe into the irregularities.
