State scraps licenses procurement from local police authorities to restaurants, bars

The state department has issued a circular to all police chiefs and collectors stating that the five licenses that restaurants and bars needed to procure earlier with their local police authorise have now been scrapped.

Hotels and restaurants had to take the licenses every year. The circular was issues to the members of the hospitality industry.

It is being reportedly said that the registration certificate which used to be issued by the police to hotels and restaurants will also been withdrawn by the state, hence limiting the role of the police department to only to check closure timing of hospitality establishments while other compl- iances will have to be checked by civic, fire, excise departments.
