State scraps local area development funds of MLAs and MLCs


Now MLCs or MLAs won’t be entitles to the RS 2 crore annual local area development fund. Earlier the state used to allot the amount to the members for local development. However, the Maharashtra government has now decided to scrap its decision.

The decision to charge an establishment cost was taken in September last year and was to be deposited in a joint account of the district collector and district planning officer. However, during the winter session a number of MLAs/MLCs demanded that the proposed charge be scrapped and the money be allowed to be used for people’s welfare.
