The state has issued an inquiry against BMC Commissioner Ajoy Mehta. The inquiry pertains to his term as the managing director of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) for certain decisions he took during his tenure.
Opposition party members in the legislative assembly on Wednesday said many scams took place in the MSEDCL during Mehta’s tenure. Leader of Opposition in the assembly Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil alleged, “He cleared a Rs 4,372-crore tender in one day by changing the conditions.”
Congress MLA Vijay Wadettiwar said, “The distribution company bought over two lakh electricity meters for domestic users, most of which were faulty. Mehta went on foreign trips 10 times without government permission, which is necessary,” said Wadettiwar.
