State to move Supreme Court over regularisation of dance bars

The state government is planning to move the Supreme Court against the regularisation of dance bars in the city. The state is planning to submit an affidavit pointing out cases of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai where youths have been enticed by dance bars and eventually, squandering their family resources and dying in mishaps under the influence of alcohol.

The next hearing for the case is scheduled for February 2016 before which the state plans to file it.

The state government has formally directed the police department to get ready for the process of renewal of around 300 dance bar licences, which have re-applied following the SC directive to reopen dance bars with stringent conditions to avoid obscenity, vulgarity and provocative dressing that leads to the exploitation of women in the business.
