Replying to a question raised at the Question Hour session, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis state that the state will ask BMC to hold fire audits of all public places, especially markets and malls. “No policy would work, unless we curb unauthorized structures. We will check if the BMC has adopted any policy in this regard. If not, the state will instruct the BMC to plan a programme to make Mumbai fire-proof.” he said.
He was replying to the concerns raised by several BJP MLAs who demanded that a panel be set up to form national fire policies for different cities as well as the need to revive hydrants and instal fire alarms in markets and malls.
The Chief Minister also said that the state will instruct the BMC to revive fire hydrants.
