In the midst of the Maha Thriller that was being scripted by NCP President Sharad Pawar, PM Modi had met him. It had created a flutter in political circles and had made the Congress restless with many of its leaders going to the extent that Pawar would ditch the Congress for BJP.
However, the fears never came true as Sharad Pawar not only met the Prime Minister but also turned down his offer to “work together.”
Sharad Pawar told the media in several interactions that post his meetings on farmers with the Prime Minister, the latter did offer an alliance between NCP and BJP in Maharashtra but the Maratha strongman told the Prime Minister that though they shared excellent relationship and were friends, this alliance would not be possible and that this would not impact their personal equation either.
And while he said that his daughter MP from Baramati Supriya Sule was offered a cabinet berth, BJP broadly started denying the same. However, Supriya Sule in a television interview confirmed that it was magnanimous of the Prime Minister to show faith in her and offer her the berth. She said she was eternally grateful though her father Sharad Pawar politely refused the PM’s offer.
