The Central Railway started its Thane-Nerul/Panvel services via the newly constructed Turbhe-Nerul section. The route was inaugurated by Chief Minister Ashok Chavan in the presence of other dignitaries. Bringing relief to the commuters of the Thane- Panvel route, Central Raulways started its Thane-Nerul/Panvel services via the newly constructed Turbhe-Nerul section. There would be 16 services daily on this route including 12 between Thane-Nerul and four between Thane-Panvel. With this the total number of suburban services on Central Railway would be increased from 1356 to 1372 and services on Thane-Vashi/Nerul section would increase from 88 to 104 daily. The first train from Thane will leave the station at 0805 hours, from Nerul at 0837 and from Panvel at 0900 hours. The rail route was inaugurated at the hands of the Chief Minister Ashok Chavan. Present along with him was Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik, MP Anand Paranjpe, TMC Mayor Smita Indulkar. Chief Minister Ashok Chavan addressed the media on the day.
