“The state government has murdered farmers” Uddhav Thackeray

The Shiv Sena Executive President Uddhav Thackeray has said that the state government has “murdered” people. He was reacting to the police firing that killed three farmers in Pune district. Uddhav Thackeray said that Dy. Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Home Minister R R Patil should resign in wake of the killings.

He said that everyone had seen on TV how the protestors were running away when the police opened fire and killed three of them. He said that no action has been taken against the policemen responsible for killing the farmers and that is why the people responsible for this should “vacate their chairs.”

The issue also created mayhem in the monsoon session of the state legislature. The lower house was adjourned 5 times after opposition bench members protested the incident. Home Minister R R Patil announced a probe in the killing while Dy. Chief Minister Ajit Pawar termed it as “politically motivated.”
