TMC will be taking strict actions against people involved in illegal constructions in the city. TMC commissioner Nandkumar Jantre has submitted an application requesting the state to implement MCOCA law. A public petition has been filed by TMC in High Court against the illegal constructions within Thane city. According to this petition, a bill was passed in the general body meet with the proposal of conducting a survey by TMC of the illegal structures in Thane. It has appealed to the State to punish the offenders under the MCOCA law. The estimated cost of the survey would be Rs 1.5 crore. He also spoke on the need for implementing the MCOCA law. However, TMC Opposition leader Hanumant Jagdale has raised question on whom the law will be implemented. Had TMC authorities woken up a little sooner, there would never have been any need to implement a strenuous punishment like MCOCA which is generally implemented against criminals.
