The Mumbai police department has enhanced its surveillance by installing state-of-the-art cameras in south Mumbai earlier this month. The CCTVs are going to help the police for “virtual chase” of errant motorcyclists. Their location will be shared with other cops on the ground so that they can eventually be booked.
Nearly 1,381 cameras have been installed in 434 locations.”Errant motorcyclists, involved in rash driving and speeding, will be monitored and chased on the camera network throughout so that they are eventually booked. Nobody can slip away anymore,” said DCP- Traffi, South Mumbai Anil Kumbhare.
