According to The Boston Consulting Group (BCG)’s 2015 e-Intensity Index study, UAE leads the Middle East in the maturity of the internet economy,
The UAE stands 30th globally with an e-Intensity score of 129. It beats major countries such as China and Russia. Another GCC state, Saudi Arabia, achieved a ranking of 45 with an e-Intensity score of 88.
“It comes as no surprise that the UAE, which enjoys a high GDP per capita and currently has approximately 9 million internet users — and one of the highest smartphone penetration rates in the world — leads the Middle East when it comes to the maturity of its internet economy,” said Hermann Riedl, Partner and Managing Director at BCG Middle East.
