Under pressure to apply MESMA Act, says Vinod Tawde

State’s higher and technical education minister Vinod Tawde warned the teaching, non-teaching and university employees’ union against going on strikes during exam and holding students to ransom. He said that he was under pressure to bring the provisions of the Maharashtra Essential Services Maintenance Act, 2011.
Speaking during the state level conference on ‘challenges facing higher education’ organised by the Maharashtra Universities’ Officers’ Forum and Mumbai University Officers’ Welfare Association, he said that the previous government have already completed work on the proposal and the current government only needs to bring examination work under the ambit of ‘essential services’ and apply the provisions of the act.
