Congress president Sonia Gandhi during an event stated that political parties should prevent people with criminal records to contest elections. She also called for a greater effort to curb the influence of money and muscle power in elections. Praising the manner in which EC has been conducting elections, she said most participants, however, needed to do soul searching and introspection.
