Following recent terrorist attacks on Mumbai, the first question that comes to mind is “Are we safe?” With terrorists fearlessly holding heritage structures like CST station, Taj Mahal hotel, Oberoi and Trident hotels captive, many malls in the city have gone on an all time High alert and have beefed up security. The recent terror attack on Mumbai that shook the entire nation was first of its kind in Mumbai. The terrorists chose to destroy our rich heritages. Following these attacks, many rumors were floating that the next target might be malls and commercial enterprises. Following this the malls in the satellite city has beefed up security measures to avoid the happening of an untoward incident. Police sources informed us that a meeting was held by ACP Purushottam Karad with mall owners where it was stressed that security should be beefed up at all the public as well as staff entry points. Extra measures are also being taken like employing more security personals with some of the employed guards rounding the mall in civil clothes. The Chief Security Officer of Palm Beach Galleria mall also spoke on the upgraded security measures being taken by the mall. However, despite the claims of the mall owners and warnings of the police, visitors visiting the malls informed us that as far as they know security measures are still not up to the mark. Considering these responses, the claims made by the mall authorities prove to be hollow, After all it is done for the public, who is not satisfied and do not feel that the measures taken are appropriate.
