turbhe-village-1One of the corporators of Turbhe village Babytai Patil claims that she has done all needed civic works for her ward. However in our series “Your ward ! Your Corporator’s performance !” we bring to you how hollow these claims are as citizens of her ward share with us the lack of basic amenities in Turbhe Village. This is Babytai Patil – one of the corporators of Turbhe village who claims to have done her duties for the progress of Turbhe village. While Corporator Babytai Patil says that she’s done her best, it’s definitely not evident or enough for Turbhe village. Let’s take a look at the political dynamics of Turbhe village from the panchayat days. From those days till date Turbhe village has identified with reign of only one family – the Patils. Late Corporators D R Patil and Bholanath Patil earlier were the corporators from the village. After their demise, late D R Patil’s wife Babytai Patil, his son Vivek Patil and his brother Chandrakant Patil were elected corporators from Turbhe village. And while Babytai Patil boldly claims that she has fulfilled the assurances given by her in her ward, the reality is something else. We brought to you an insight on the allegations on how till date no villagers or residents of Turbhe village had complained about the lack of civic amenities or initiatives to better life in Turbhe village because there allegedly is fear in minds of the locals who dread speaking against the reigning Patil family. The village cries for better facilities for poor students who come to municipal schools to avail education. Forget the failure of the corporators to provide better amenities in the ward. They have not even done the basics as is evident from open gutters, openly flowing sewerage, foul smell and highly unhygienic living conditions. For years the villagers of Turbhe village have sat quietly and watched progress pass by to other wards and villages but not their area and the bottled up frustration is now showing in their reactions.
