While CIDCO and NMMC favor builders, Navi Mumbai traffic police yet to get plot for a garden

The traffic Garden proposed by the Navi Mumbai Traffic Department is hanging in the balance due to the apathy of CIDCO and NMMC.

In a significant move to sensitize the school-going children over the traffic norms and road sense, the Navi Mumbai Traffic department had proposed a traffic garden. The proposal was sent by the department to CIDCO and NMMC asking for a plot for the same. While NMMC and CIDCO had said that they would allot a plot in Nerul or Kharghar for the traffic garden. However after submitting the proposal, the Navi Mumbai Traffic Department repeatedly followed up with both the authorities but with no reply, this significant and unique proposal is hanging in the balance.

Lack of road sense and absence of traffic norms is resulting in major road accidents. In order to create massive awareness on grassroot level, the Navi Mumbai traffic is targeting the school-going children. The proposed traffic garden will be the launch pad of this traffic awareness in the young generation. Mumbai police have established a traffic garden at Colaba in association with the MCGM authorities. On the same lines, the Navi Mumbai Traffic police wanted to pursue this proposal. While the NMMC and CIDCO authorities are yet to respond to the proposal, the proposed traffic garden by the Navi Mumbai Traffic can prove to be a boon for the city as it will instill traffic awareness, road sense and traffic norms among the younger generation. However looks like between NMMC and CIDCO, they have plots only for builders. With cameraperson Santosh Bodhare, Monika Bhosale for NMTV News.
