The Indian Premier League with its glamour, stardom and not to mention its cheer girls had attracted a huge crowd of viewers towards it. Even if you were not a cricket lover you would have known which team is playing and which Bollywood star was supported whom considering the amount of promotion that was done during these matches. But does our own ICL match up to this glamour and viewership? Many would say no considering that ICL lacks the official sanction, and hence there is no hype, support and clout as the IPL. Secondly, as one media house, ZEE, owns ICL, other media houses have not backed it with the same enthusiasm as they have done in the case of IPL. A saturation point is surely round the corner and the ICL may well lose out instead of making gains. However, during the entire rivalry between ICL and IPL politics should not clout sports especially in a country where cricket is loved and treated as a religion. Another point that cannot be ignored is that, had the ICL not happened, not just the IPL but to a large extent even cricket would not have revived to its original fervor and gusto.
