At the end of the two-day conclave of Param Dharam Sansad — a confluence of Hindu spiritual leaders from across the country — at the venue of Khumb Mela in Prayagraj, organisers declared that they will lay the foundation stone for Ram Mandir on February 21. The move comes a day after the Central government moved the Supreme Court to release the undisputed land in Ayodhya to title holders. The Param Sansad was held just days ahead of the VHP-affiliated Dharam Sansad.
Swami Swaroopanand, who headed the Sansad, said he and his followers propose to leave for Ayodhya on February 21 to lay the foundation stone. “They are planning to construct a statue by taking possession of the land around Ram Janmbhoomi and not the 0.3 acres of the disputed land,” he said. Saraswati’s call for this march to Ayodhya will up the ante, even as the case is in the Supreme Court for adjudication. While the VHP and the RSS have urged the Centre to bring an ordinance for the temple, the apex court constituted a new five-judge Constitution bench.
