Will Sharad Pawar be the game changer for “Agri Politics” in NMMC Polls 2020

The early trends of NMMC polls to be held in April 2020 are going all in favor of the BJP. While the NCP, led by its Mathadi leader Shashikant Shinde has started playing the Maha Vikas Aghadi card and is reaching out to Vijay Chougule – Vijay Nahata in Shiv Sena and Anil Kaushik – Santosh Shetty in Congress, the BJP led by MLAs in Navi Mumbai – Ganesh Naik and Manda Mhatre are already working for the polls in full swing as well.

“Shiv Sena corporators are meeting Ganesh Naik & Manda Mhatre” claims BJP Navi Mumbai President Ramchandra Gharat
According to BJP Navi Mumbai President Ramchandra Gharat, “It’s not hidden from anyone that due to incapable leadership in Shiv Sena, their present corporators have been spotted at Crystal House to meet Ganesh Naik and in Belapur office of MLA Manda Mhatre as they want to join BJP ahead of NMMC polls.”

“In Navi Mumbai, its only BJP” say local Shiv Sainiks aspiring to fight on BJP tickets
Sources in Shiv Sena confirmed the development and said, “the state might be ruled by Shiv Sena – NCP – Congress combine but things on ground are different in Navi Mumbai. Both Airoli and Belapur constituencies have been won by BJP with thumping majorities by Ganesh Naik and Manda Mhatre and fighting on BJP ticket guarantees a victory in most wards.”

In fighting and ego clashes hurting Shiv Sena’s prospects ahead of municipal polls 2020
The same source added, “Here we have to deal with the in-fighting and factions of Vijay Chougule on one side and Vijay Nahata on other.”

That Shiv Sena became weak in Navi Mumbai is something that was established post last NMMC polls itself, when the Chougule and Nahata differences came out in the open and Vijay Chougule, then increased proximity with former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Another local Sena leader of Airoli told NMTV, “We feel Vijay Chougule’s loyalties are still with Devendra Fadnavis and will support the BJP led by Ganesh Naik in Navi Mumbai where ever he can.”

“When the time comes, you will know who is in touch with who” says Vijay Chougule as he rubbishes Ramchandra Gharat’s claims
NMTV spoke to Vijay Chougule about Gharat’s claims that Sena corporators were in touch with Ganesh Naik and Manda Mhatre for NMMC polls. Setting aside the claims he said, “Wait till the right time comes. Then you will know who is in touch with whom.”

The Agri factor to work in favor of BJP
In Navi Mumbai, everyone knows that in politics nothing works as well as the Agri factor. The fact that Ganesh Naik and Manda Mhatre, both Agris, are the MLAs from Navi Mumbai has only endorsed this fact. Hence, many believe that it’s the same Agri sentiments that will unite political leaders beyond party lines and evidently will prove advantage BJP ahead of NMMC Polls 2020.

“Fools will take the Sharad Pawar factor lightly in NMMC polls” say NCP and Congress loyalists
There is another twist to the Agri dominance however. The newly unleashed zeal of Sharad Pawar that led BJP to crash landing despite winning highest seats in Maharashtra polls, is being seen as the biggest challenge to BJP in Navi Mumbai, particularly Ganesh Naik. Sources in NCP told NMTV News, “Pawar Saab has already started taking review of all upcoming municipal and zillah parishad polls in Maharashtra and this includes Navi Mumbai. Only a fool will take this lightly after what has happened in Maharashtra.” The source adds, “And do not be surprised if Pawar saab comes in person to campaign for polls in Navi Mumbai for he has to settle some scores here as well just like he did in Satara and elsewhere, where senior NCP leaders ditched him in time of crisis for sake of power.”

If this comes true and Sharad Pawar does engineer a pre-poll alliance between NCP, Congress and Shiv Sena in Navi Mumbai, then Ganesh Naik led BJP better beware as “the Maratha strongman” is coming to Navi Mumbai. #ZebaWarsia – NMTV News.
