Women associations in the city have come with a programme named ‘Swayamsiddha’ in which self-defense training will be given to women. It is a 10 day programme under which women will be taught various defense techniques. Crime against women has seen a sharp increase in the last few months in the city. Incidences like chain snatching, eve teasing are quite common which women have to face often. Therefore, in order to make women and girls strong enough to fight against such crimes, Navi Mumbai Swayamsevi Sanstha Samanvay Manch, Saptashrungi Mahila Vikas mandal and Pashchim Maharashtra Mahila Mahasangh have jointly organized a programme called ‘Swayamsiddha’ in which 10-day training workshop will be conducted for women. Along with self-defense techniques other fitness programmes like Aerobics, Yoga, Judo, Karate will also be taught to women. The programme was inaugurated at the community centre in presence of the members of women associations. Also present were DMC, Planning of NMMC Dadasaheb Chabukswar, corporator Madhavi Shinde and other members of the organizations.
