Navi Mumbai’s Green Man Sandeep Naik continued his green movement 2011; this time at a NMMC school in Koperkhairane where he planted saplings with party corporators, senior citizens, students, teachers and party workers.
Early morning MLA Sandeep Naik arrived at NCP corporator Ravi Mhatre’s ward in Koperkhairane to join school students in a tree plantation drive in the school’s neighborhood. The drive was conducted under the auspices of Green Hope’s Green Movement 2011 – a massive tree plantation movement started under the leadership of Green Hope’s President MLA Sandeep Naik. At the Koperkhairane School, the enthusiastic students seemed to have done their homework right as they performed and spoke about the need of environment conservation, planting green heads and then nurturing them. The vigor of the children and teachers of the school was the reason for the success of the event. After the event within the school premises, saplings were planted at the hands of MLA Sandeep Naik, teachers of the school and senior citizens who arrived to participate in the event.
Speaking to the media, MLA Sandeep Naik said that the aim of Green Hope to take their Green Movement 2011 to schools was to ensure that awareness about environment conservation and tree plantation drives reaches the young minds, who are the future of the nation. He voiced happiness over the fact that the event saw positive participation of people of all ages and the children gave the right message to the society in the form of a poem.
While green movement anywhere in the city is welcome, it seems most worthy when such initiatives reaches the schools that are temples of wisdoms imparting knowledge and values to minds that are going to be the future asset of the country.
